Here is a Routledge time line check list to help establish the probable date of publication of Routledge book that lacks a date on the title page. My Dating the Books of George Routledge page gives a fuller account of how to approach this issue. The key things to look at are the form of the business name, the London address, New York addresses, other offices, and the presence of the Routledge colophon. The brackets indicate that the street address number is sometimes not printed. In all of these formats from 1836 to 1890, the word LONDON appears in capitals on the line before the publisher’s name.

In 1903, the use of the Routledge colophon was introduced. It was in regular but not exclusive use until 1923. It appears between the author’s name and the publishers address. Also in 1903, the relationship with E.P. Dutton and Co. of New York began. From 1903 to 1925, the “and” in both publisher’s names is sometimes printed “&“. The publisher’s names are normally printed in black, but occasionally, one or both names can be printed in red. Title pages from 1903 to 1912 follow one of the following four patterns:
- 1903-1912 Four variants:

- (No colophon) London, GRSL, Broadway House, Ludgate Hill.

I have also seen title pages in 1907 and 1908 with the following address format.
- 1907-1908 London GRSL, Carter Lane, Ludgate Hill.
From 1913 to 1925, the following four variants are found:
